SAVE RECIPE

This spooky porridge is a fun and delicious Halloween breakfast! A festive Halloween treat to start your day.

Thanks to @yummy_little_belly for this spooktacular recipe!

INGREDIENTS

  • For the porridge:
  • 40g porridge oats
  • 120ml milk of choice
  • 50g pumpkin purée
  • 1 teaspoon almond butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • For the topping:
  • 1 banana
  • Sugar free chocolate chips/raisins
  • Babease pouch
  • (or use our Boonana Pops recipe)

METHOD

  • 1 Place the porridge, milk, puree, almond butter and cinnamon powder in a saucepan over a medium heat and cook for 8-10 minutes until creamy (add more milk if necessary), stirring regularly.
  • 2 Cut the banana in half lengthways, through the centre. Then cut one piece in half to form 2 pieces.
  • 3 Place the banana pieces on the porridge, rounded side up. Add chocolate chips/raisins to form the eyes and mouth.
  • 4 Squeeze some of the Babease pouch at the bottom of the banana ghosts and use the rest to make the dots. Place the raisins, blueberries or edible eyes (for over 12 months) on the dots to make the monsters.
  • 5 Serve and enjoy!

This porridge can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for one day, or frozen for up to 3 months.

Alternative Toppings

You can follow our Boonana Pops recipe for another fun way of making spooky edible ghosts.

Why not try other terrifying toppings?! You could use raisins or blueberries to create a spider or spiderweb design on top of the porridge, add an extra dollop of cooked pumpkin puree on top in a pumpkin shape, or use the pouch to squeeze out ghoulish monsters!
